Still Life Aquatics was born from a deep passion for aquascaping and a belief that Australian hobbyists deserve access to the highest quality aquatic plants — not mass-imported stock, but plants that are genuinely aquarium-ready from day one.

Our Story

Founded by Keirnan Campbell, Still Life Aquatics started as a personal obsession with rare and unusual aquatic plants — particularly the slow-growing, jewel-like species that make a planted tank truly extraordinary. What began as a hobbyist's pursuit quickly grew into something more: a mission to bring rare Bucephalandra, Anubias, Cryptocoryne, and other specialty species to the Australian aquascaping community with a level of care and quality that simply wasn't available locally.

We understand what it means to be a planted tank enthusiast. We've spent countless hours researching, growing, and refining our collection — so you don't have to compromise.

Grown Submersed, On-Site

This is what sets us apart.

Every plant we sell is grown submersed — fully underwater — in our own facility. This is the natural growing environment for true aquatic plants, and it makes an enormous difference to the health and adaptability of the plant when it enters your aquarium.

Many plants sold online are grown emersed (above water) in nurseries, which means they need to transition and often melt back when submerged. Our plants skip that stressful adjustment period entirely. What you receive is:

• Healthy, established root systems ready to anchor and grow
• Thick, robust rhizomes with strong energy reserves
• True aquatic foliage — no emersed leaves to melt away
• Aquarium-ready plants that settle in and thrive from day one

Our Growing Facility

Our plants are cultivated in purpose-built submersed growing systems right here in Australia. We maintain carefully controlled water parameters, lighting schedules, and nutrient regimes to replicate the ideal conditions for each species — from the shaded forest streams that Bucephalandra calls home, to the soft, acidic waters preferred by rare Cryptocoryne.

Every batch is inspected before dispatch. We don't ship plants we wouldn't put in our own tanks.
