Cryptocoryne axelrodi Tissue Culture

Cryptocoryne axelrodi is an attractive and versatile Cryptocoryne with narrow, gently textured leaves that develop beautiful green, bronze and reddish-brown tones depending on growing conditions. Its natural appearance makes it an excellent choice for adding texture and colour to the foreground or midground of a planted aquarium.

Like many Cryptocoryne, C. axelrodi is relatively undemanding once established. It performs particularly well in a nutrient-rich substrate and can be grown successfully without injected CO₂, making it suitable for both low-tech and high-tech planted aquariums.

This tissue culture contains healthy young plantlets grown in a sterile environment, meaning they are free from snails, algae and unwanted pests. Simply rinse away the culture media, gently separate the individual plantlets and plant directly into the substrate.

Cryptocoryne may experience some leaf melt after being introduced to a new aquarium. This is normal while the plant adapts, with fresh submerged leaves developing from the established root system.

Growth: Slow–moderate

Placement: Foreground / midground

Lighting: Low–medium

CO₂: Optional

Difficulty: Easy–moderate

Propagation: Runners

A great choice for aquascapers looking for a hardy Cryptocoryne with subtle bronze and reddish tones and a more natural, understated appearance.
