Echinodorus Quadricolour
Echinodorus ‘Quadricolor’
Echinodorus ‘Quadricolor’ is a beautiful compact sword plant prized for its striking mix of green, bronze, red and copper tones. New leaves often emerge with warm reddish-bronze colouration before gradually developing greener tones as they mature, creating a naturally varied appearance within a single plant.
Unlike many larger Echinodorus varieties, ‘Quadricolor’ maintains a relatively compact growth habit, making it an excellent choice for the midground of medium to large aquariums. Under strong lighting and good nutrition, plants develop their best colouration and produce a dense rosette of attractive foliage.
A hardy and adaptable species, it can be grown successfully without CO₂, although CO₂ supplementation and a nutrient-rich substrate will encourage faster growth, stronger colour and more compact development.
Care: Easy–Moderate
Lighting: Medium–High
CO₂: Optional, recommended for best growth
Placement: Midground
Growth Rate: Moderate
Propagation: Adventitious plants/runners
Colour: Green, bronze, copper & red
A fantastic choice for aquascapers wanting the classic structure of an Echinodorus with more colour and a considerably more manageable size.
