Rotala wallichii

Rotala wallichii is a stunning fine-leaved stem plant prized for its delicate, feathery growth and vibrant pink, red and orange colouration. When grown under strong lighting with good CO₂ and nutrient availability, it can develop intensely coloured tips that make it an incredible feature in a planted aquarium.

Its narrow leaves grow densely around slender stems, creating a soft, almost fluffy appearance that contrasts beautifully against broader-leaved and green plants. Regular trimming encourages branching and allows Rotala wallichii to form a dense, colourful bush.

This species is best suited to experienced planted-tank keepers, as it appreciates stable CO₂, good lighting and consistent fertilisation to look its best.
